Worldly Inspirations
I love to look toward other cultures and traditions for inspirations and ideas. I have come across these beautiful pix of gorgeous dresses that may inspire you!

Is stretching good for my kid?
Yes! It is great! You do not want to over stretch them and force their little bodies and muscles to things it is not ready for but it is great to get them into the habit of stretching before and after physical activities. According to Dr. Oz stretching for adults is good in the morning as soon as you get out of bed so I do not see how it could not be beneficial to children when they get out of bed as well. If you are looking for stretching exercises and techniques look into using basic yoga positions and pilates exercises. These elements are used in all sports and in dance. The names of the positions may be different but the reasoning behind why you do it will be the same.
My child jumps off the furniture and I ‘m afraid he will get hurt
Children
can get a little active in the home especially when they have built up energy on a rainy day and they can’t get outside! This best thing is to find safe games that allow them to jump around and do gymnastics but in a safe way. At Triangle Twinkle Toes we will be able to teach you how to spot your child on simple tumble skills and how to use things around the house to build their skill sets.
I would like for my child to be more active
To get your child to be more active you, the parent, has to be more active. Engage your child in the same physical activities you like to do like basketball or dance and do them together. Shoot hoops in your driveway or dance in your playroom.
At Triangle Twinkle Toes all of our classes or Parent/Child classes. We believe that when your child sees you participate they will want to participate as well.
My child does not do well in group classes
This is a common concern for parents and it is natural for children to be shy in group settings. There is a lot of stimulation going on and strange adults telling them what to do and strange kids in their class. It may seem like being in a Dr. Seuss book to a small child. This does not mean that it won’t improve over time but patience is the key here. You child needs to move at his or her own pace and maybe doing classes in a smaller setting with a smaller class size or private classes may be the way to go in the beginning.
This is the best thing about Triangle Twinkle Toes! We can offer those private classes in the comfort of your own home so you child will be getting the skill sets that he or she would be learning in class but at his or her own pace in a non intimidating environment.
Themed Parties
I love themes and it is a great way to tie the party together! This is always a great idea no matter the age… children, adults, and even for teens!! A key tip…when you do a theme party you really need to go all out to make it fun.
If you are wanting your guests to wear costumes then you should provide some costume items on-site just in case a guest or two shows up sans costume. It doesn’t necessarily have to be full costumes but accessories would be great. This is a great ay to keep all of your guests involved.
Create games with a twist that will relate to your theme. Games are a great way to get the guests moving and talking but not too many games. Keep them appropriate to age and skill level.
And as always, decor is king when it comes to themes. Tie it in where ever you can. The best is in the little details people wouldn’t think of!
We can definitely help you create the perfect theme party for any age! Just visit our event planning and design website at: www.eventsinaboxnc.com!
Average timeframe for children parties
Children parties should not go over 3 hours!! A 2 hour time frame is ideal for toddlers to 3-4 year old and 2 1/2 hour time frame for 4 and up maxing at 3 hours. Kids get bored and anxious so make sure you have entertainment and/or various activities for the children to do. Also remember the other parents may have other plans for that day. Your child’s birthday is very important to you and that is great but be considerate of others.
FYI…I have noticed a growing trend in parties on Sundays and Friday evenings…any thoughts? Post them on our Facebook page!
Is it okay to bring uninvited siblings to birthday parties?
When referring to drop-off parties I wouldn’t suggest it. If it is a non drop-off party it can get a little tricky.
When the parents are having to stay for the party I suggest letting the host know that you will need to bring sibling/siblings and ask if that is okay. When one child is invited to a birthday party of a friend that is not a friend of your other child or children you will need to ask but it would be more polite to leave them with either the other parent, a play date or a sitter.
When hosting parties the host is very generous providing food and beverage for invited guests plus one parent. When both parents and all their kids come over the increased guest count could possibly double or triple the food budget.
Parties are getting more and more extravagant for children. These parties are catered, the guests are getting gifts not just favors (and the host would need to get a gift for each of your uninvited children) and if it is at a venue the host will need to pay per head for each and every child and sometimes each adult that is attending. A good host is not going to say “no” to allowing your other children to attend so you should offer to pay their share.
Please take this into consideration and ask what would you prefer for others to do when you host your child’s party.
What age is a good age for a “drop-off” birthday party?
Drop-off birthday parties or play dates are when the parent does not stay but comes back to pick up their child when the party or play date is over. This can be a difficult situation for the child or parent or sometimes both. It comes down to the individual child and their parent and they need to judge when that time is right. Just because your child may not have difficulties with drop-offs others may so keep that in mind.
A good rule of thumb for appropriate drop-off age when kids are school age. By this time they are used to being without their parents for hours at a time and having to follow the direction of other adults. In some cases Pre-K kids may be ready but this age is still a little tricky.
Another thing to consider is are you ready? As a party host you will be responsible for and have have to handle those 10-15 kids by yourself plus party hosting duties. That may be a little overwhelming for you!
